Missouri is turning 200 this summer, and Lake of the Ozarks community leaders are gearing up for the Midwest's best boating destination to host Missouri's "Best Dam Birthday Bash."
It makes sense: Lake of the Ozarks is where people from all walks of life come to vacation, to play, to relax, and to celebrate.
Why not celebrate Missouri's bicentennial here? Organizers have events planned throughout the summer, culminating in the week of Aug. 7 (the official birthday of the state is Aug. 10), when an especially unique boating event is set for Saturday, June 12. This will be an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Boat Parade. Best Dam Birthday Bash organizer Mary Kay von Brendel says they have been approved by Guinness World Records for an official attempt. Boaters are required to pre-register, in order to count toward attendance.

Housing Shortage.
If you are having trouble finding a home at the Lake, you aren’t the only one. The inventory of available homes is extremely low, and the demand is extremely high. Many properties are only on the market for a few hours or days, and receive multiple offers to purchase. A good deal of these offers are over asking price. If you are not here at the Lake (or unable to get here quickly) when something new comes on the market, chances are slim that you will secure a property right now.
Lake wide, there are currently 114 active lakefront home listings. There are 99 off-water (no lake view or access) available listings. There are only 44 active resale condos on the market. 27 Villas are on the market. This covers all prices ranges from $28,000 to $6,000,000. Of these listings, 39 are priced over $1,000,000 and 106 are priced between $500,000 and $1,000,000.

LAKE OZARK, Mo. — ALDI is coming to Eagles Landing Shopping
Center, in Lake Ozark. The Lake Ozark Planning & Zoning Commission approved a site plan for an ALDI store to be located on Bus. 54 northeast of the proposed area for Casey’s. The store would be located on Bus. 54 and Kestrel Lane. The site plan for this location was originally approved by the P&Z on Sept. 5, 2018. Revisions to the original plan were resubmitted to meet city requirements, and the P&Z signed off to allow the project to proceed.
The store and adjacent parking would cover about 19,200 square feet with the actual store about 12,700 square feet with about 109 parking spaces. The ALDI store would have two entrances to provide easy access from Bus. 54 or Kestrel Lane.
For members of the Lake of the Ozarks community, it's been a long time coming. After the 2018 announcement that the discount grocery chain would be coming to Eagles Landing, in 2019 the city said the development plans had ground to a halt.

New Amphitheater at the Lake

If all goes as planned, Lake of the Ozarks will have another music venue by early next summer. More than eight months after the request was initially presented, Arapaho LLC, owned by the Gary Prewitt Irrevocable Trust, got the rezoning needed to move forward with construction of a 2,000-seat amphitheater and parking lot to serve the venue. The project will be located between Beach Drive and Sunset Road on land adjacent to Backwater Jack’s, which is also owned by Arapaho

Memorial Day 2020—A record year at the Lake!
LAKE OF THE OZARKS, MO. 2020 - Lake of the Ozarks waterfront business owners, from restaurants to resorts to marinas, say this Memorial Day weekend was one for the books.
Kyle Kelly, of Kelly’s Port Marine, says the weekend set a new high-water mark for Memorial Day fuel sales. “We broke a record. Again…” he said, referencing a particularly busy Saturday in April of this year.
Michael Spriggs, owner of Point Randall Resort, said he too thinks he had record sales at his gas dock. “It sure seemed busier than a usual Memorial Day weekend,” he added.
Rob Shields, owner of Nautifish Rum Bar, said customer traffic at his lakefront restaurant in Camdenton was immense: if not record-breaking, then close to it.
“I believe—Aquapalooza excluded—Saturday was our biggest day we’ve ever had,” said Luke Hagedorn, General Manager of Dog Days Bar & Grill, one of the busiest waterfront hotspots at the Lake. Hagedorn said. “I’ve got a feeling we’re not going to have a let-down this year… We could be in for one of our best years ever.”

Pointe Oasis Gas Dock
May 4, 2020
“We just wanted to say thank
you to all of our wonderful customers for making this past weekend the busiest
opening weekend ever! We are committed to keeping our fuel prices low for
all of you.”
Kelly’s Port
May 8, 2020
Kyle Kelly, of Kelly’s Port,
called their April boat sales “very, very good,” saying they “far exceeded
expectations.” But the bigger story for Kelly’s Port was at the docks. Kelly’s
Port’s marina was “the busiest we’ve ever seen,” he said. That’s not
just for April: that’s all-time. Kelly says one Saturday in April brought the “most
gasoline sales we’ve ever done in one day, in our 44 years of business.”
